Tellabs' MartisDXX(TM) Managed Network Solution to Provide Seamless SDH Access For PanTel in Hungary
LISLE, Ill., Aug 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Tellabs (Nasdaq: TLAB - news)announced today that Hungarian operator PanTel Telecommunications & Communications Company (PanTel) will use the MartisDXX managed access and transport network solution to deliver nationwide managed leased line and IP telephony services over an optical fiber-based synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) access network. The MartisDXX system will help PanTel meet the growing demand for managed high- speed telephony services in Hungary.

``Tellabs' MartisDXX solution was chosen for its ability to provide multiple high-speed services -- over fiber and copper -- using a single managed platform, and to seamlessly transfer between other service providers' PDH systems and PanTel's SDH layers,' said PanTel CEO Pal Horvath.

``With the approach of Hungary's admission to the European Union, the country's demand for, and competition in, telecommunication services is escalating,' continued Horvath. ``With Tellabs' solution, PanTel will evolve seamlessly to the next stage of access development, setting the strong foundations of a long-term partnership.'

Chris Royden, vice president and general manager of Tellabs' Europe, Middle East and Africa sales region, said, ``As PanTel expands its service offerings to meet the increasing demands of its business customers and to grow its base of residential customers, Tellabs' MartisDXX solution is playing an important role. The MartisDXX solution helps to meet demands for high-quality services through the delivery of cost-effective managed access and transport facilities.'

The scalable structure of the MartisDXX system enables service providers to offer tailored services to their customers as their networks grow. The Tellabs MartisDXX system currently is deployed in more than 160 networks in 60 countries worldwide, providing intelligent transport for mobile services and multiservice platforms for a broad range of business services, including LAN interconnect, digital leased line, frame relay and PBX interconnection.
