No, I haven't. Has she written other things worth reading?

I got onto Brede by seeing the film when I was still in my teens. Made a big impression on me, so went to read the book and was enthralled. Have read it several times since then, most recently about three years ago. Maybe it's time to read it again.

What else of hers should I look into?

I have often contemplated starting a thread here for book recommendations only. That is, each post would recommend a book the poster has found worth reading, with a summary of why they recommend the book and whether it would be of particular interest to some people and not others. However, I have held off because I suspected it either would go nowhere, or would turn into a broad based discussion of books and other things duplicative of other threads. However, there are some books I have found particularly valuable to me that I would love to share, and I always appreciate others sharing "finds" with me.

For example, I would include the Swallows and Amazons series by Arthur Ransome, which I think I mentioned here a while back. It's a wonderful series both for children (age 8 or so up, though can be read to younger ages) and for adults. I have had to order copies from England because my kids have worn out my copies with reading them so often.

Another book I would mention that not everybody has read is West With the Night, by Beryl Markham. A delightful book, not "heavy" but delightful.

Do you agree with me that such a thread would not work, or do you think people could learn to use it as intended?
