In both the new and old SI, the stock table appears on Stock-Talk threads. It doesn't appear on non-stock threads like this one.

When there is no table, the shortest route I can find to company-specific news is this:
Enter symbol in gray "Quotes" box above.
Press Quotes.
Press "News" link.
Once you're on the news page, you can enter the symbol in what is now the gray "Go" box to get news on a different company.

You can also create a kind of ad-hoc watch list by entering several space-delimited symbols in the Quotes box. That gives you the same kind of list as a watchlist with a "More Info" column that includes a "News" link for each company.
