Scott, what's your definition of "long term investing"?

For me, "long term investing" means 3 to 5 years and beyond,
and I can tell you right here that long term investing
beats trading 70% of the time.

The reason is simple, traders make 20 pts profit
and 10 pts loss, but it is guaranted that they WILL miss
the huge run up. Because they never keep their positions
for more than weeks, let alone months.

Who get really rich on YHOO?? Those who start to buy YHOO
from early days and continue to do so at every major dip.

Who will get rich on ATHM? Those who start to buy ATHM
from early stage and continue to do so at evey major dip.
And we are at a major dip here.

Just come back 3 years and see.

BTW: as a real time example of long time investing: A
freind of mine and I both bought QCOM in 1997 at around
20s range for a 10K investment. I sold mine later on
for a 5K profit and was very very happy. My friend still
hold his and you do the calculation.
