Mark: 7% for next week only takes two things -- a bad cpi and a bad ppi. The bad cpi is very possible -- that takes us to 6.5% and is partially anticipated. Most estimates are unrealistically low for the ppi -- but a bad number has been rumored so it would not be a total shock. On the other hand, a bad cpi takes us towards 7% because it is not expected and would be a real shock -- especially if combined with a bad ppi. Two bad numbers stand between us and a 7% bond yield -- that is all. Whatever the exact yield -- a bond above 6.5% will do significant damage. The upside is: two good numbers and we get a relief rally. Like I said, we will soon see.
