It's that time of year...the electric utilities' calendar Q2 10Q's are coming out this week and next.

From those that I've reviewed, there seems to be a significant shift in language from calendar Q4 and Q1 . In those reports, many utilities were saying that Y2K presented a "significant probability of disruption." Now at least I'm seeing essentially "we've either got our act together or will by September 30, 1999, however, don't even think of asking us about our suppliers and others with whom we are interdependent."

While I continue to find that message not reassuring, I am somewhat heartened by the change in language I've observed over the last few quarters.

More utilities are reporting every day....

I'd welcome comments and insights from others on this point.
