DRAM prices are up, not down, in Taiwan and Korea.
Earlier this week, Samsung and Huyndai started asking $ 8 for 64 MB DRAM from tier 1 OEMs like IBM and Dell. They went to Taiwan market where OEM price quoted was $ 7.50. Both IBM and Dell signed to buy from a Taiwanese manufacturer, even though that manufacturer's shrink wrap has NOT been qualified by IBM or Dell. They agreed to take these parts as exception to their policy. Must be wanting the product !!

Yesterday, some brokers who had purchased the product previous week at spot price of $6, took profit and sold in spot market at $ 6.90 to $ 7.25. It was not sold by DRAM manufacturers but by brokers in that situation. The manufacturers are asking $ 7.50 in Taiwan and $ 8.0 in S. Korea. Japanese are not in spot market since their cost of production is even higher.
