Thanks James for confirming that NDS will make money and continue to grow its dominance in the Directory Services world as Active Directory stumbles out of the block. Why you ask? Because NDS DOES RUN ON NT! (and NetWare and Linux, and OS/390, and on countless other networking devices and other networked product vendors like Cisco, Lucent, Nortel, Oracle, Solaris, AIX, Peoplesoft, Notes, AOL, etc. etc. etc.).
But thanks for confirming that NDS will be as successful as I already knew it would. Actually you can call NDS a parasite that will grow as fast and faster as MSFT grows NT. Great strategy on NOVL's part - dont ya think?
The more successful MSFT's NT hits the market, the more sales the Novell rakes in on NDS. Reason, Active Directory has absolutely no marketshare at this time and when it comes out it will be exactly 0 year old technology. Novell's hugely scalable and mature NDS will be over 7 years old and have the vast majority of the industry behind it (or fragmented to a few other DS players).
Here is the other thing you wont like to hear. MSFT's previous "I'll make my Active Directory proprietary and choke out the competition" wont work like it did in the past. MSFT is soooo far behind in the DS race that it has absolutely no choice but to participate in the open standards like LDAP. Funny, NDSv8 has native LDAP implementation.
So again, your right, NOVL will make money on MSFT's NT - as well as countless other market areas in the industry. So I guess you had better pick up some NOVL stock since you are predicting a great success for NDS.
Cheers!
