Even if he could buy the company then shut it down [same as the conspiracy theorists think about the oil industry buying the engine that runs on water and shutting it down], he would start to look like a gold mine! All you have to do to make your fortune is another Linux then get it ready for $ill to buy and shut it down! Heck, he'd have millions of developers all developing stuff for him to buy so he could shut it down!

But suppose the situation was like Ericy vs Q! and Ericy bought Q! Why would they shut it down? If it's better, they'd add it to their monopoly portfolio. Same with $ill if he bought Linux [if it wasn't free code] he wouldn't want to shut it down if it's popular.

It seems to me that people struggle with trying to make MSFT into some evil monopoly. It's just some people making something really good and selling it for what they can get folks! Pretty simple. They form alliances and sole trading agreements with others. Simple and sensible. Anyone can compete.

Same with Q! Qdog thinks something else will come along? Well, let me tell you that Q! is first to market, OFDM breaches the laws of physics and so does pulsed radio, it'll never work, the proponents are scamsters, OFDM gets wobbly in sunlight. Q! can buy them up and shut them down if they are good - but not with my money. They can buy them up with my money.
