Robert,
I know that your question was to levy about the benefits of delayed gratification, but may I add my thoughts? Of course we are in it for the long term but, the slow and steady price appreciation is so satisfying. Just as gamblers, lovers and lab rats respond best to intermittent (frequent but not necessarily constant) reward, so do investors. The thought of being a lonely soul waiting for the inevitable but distant reward is frustrating...much like our GNET May to July experience. Personally, the "quality" of the ascent with the now more widely known GNET(even CNBC seems to be getting it right) matters more than it did when we were thought of as little more than another portal. A knowing smile during time when leaves are rustling beneath our feet is better than an "I told you so" when all the other tulips are beginning to sprout anew.
