Based on Time & Sales info today, It was impossible to short when it started to fall apart near the end of the day. 64 1/8 to 63 1/8 the first time was not quite straight down, but there was not a single uptick. A word to the wise!

MU's big-block count is roughly 100 or so every day, but the total big-block volume itself peaked on Tuesday with the stock price.

*sniff sniff sniff* Anybody else smell the rubber of the tires that Dim-Whittington, Osha, Wolff (Barings) et al burned getting their big clients out the door before they issued their "Strong Buy"'s earlier in the week? If the TXN guy wasn't the one hedging today with those 70 puts mentioned a few posts ago, his stockholders should be screaming for his head.

I might get to sell those Aug 55 puts for a buck or so tomorrow to make a spread with my Oct 55's.

Anybody catch Merrill's "the PC industry is under siege" note today? The part on MUEI has a few gems that don't make it to web sites:

CBSM 08/12 10:20 [MUEI] MICRON ELECTRONICS FACING CHALLENGES THAT MAY BE INSURMOUNTABLE: MERRILL.

In all seriousness, what does "may be insurmountable" mean in practical terms? Is that code for "MUEI might go bankrupt"?

Another part of the note (I was at my broker's office today) said more or less that MUEI's "rich" price reflects an assumption of a turnaround. i.e., nowhere to go but down?
