Matt,

I think you are somewhat confused! All the gold mines that I ever had the opportunity to visit always put the rock from the underground into a crushing circuit.

In most cases a crushing circuit consists of a jaw crusher and a cone crusher. The jaw crusher crushes the rock down to about a six inch size or better. After this the rock is introduced to the cone crusher which crushes the rock down to more or less a course beach sand. The rock is now ready to be introduced to the grinding circuit which consists of either a SAG mill, a ball mill and even possibly a rod mill.Ball mills can only accept fine crushed material ie.cone crusher discharge.

I think what you are trying to say is that Wheaton RIVER will eliminate the cone crusher thus preventing any gumming up of the cone altogether and as a result allowing the introduction of larger size rocks directly into the SAG MILL.A SAG mill unlike a ball mill utilizes a lower percentage of steel balls on account that the collosion of the larger size rocks act as a grinding medium.
