My knowledge of this aryan nonsense is about like yours. If they ever existed at all, they probably would have looked like modern day Indians or Pakistanis. Gao Seng's post inferred that Darwin influenced the nazis. I'm sure that is true, but I think a greater influence was that of Margaret Sanger, Havelock Ellis, and other proponents of eugenics theories. Back in the 20s and 30s eugenics was touted as a wonderful new science that would ultimately save mankind. This nonsense was put forth by academics and other elite opinion makers. The left-wing hero Bertrand Russell once said "we really must find a way to painlessly dispose of our lame and infirm." Ol' Bertie was a real sweetheart wasn't he?
