Ken,

The only thing "mental" about Y2K is how each person handles it.

Maybe you would have understood that, had you even bothered to understand the context of the post where I originally made that comment.

Those people who suffered an F2 tornado "handled" that disaster in Salt Lake City.

The Serbians, who have seen their nation's entire infrastructure destroyed or mangled, have "HANDLED" it (and without 90% of their population dying from starvation as some claim Y2K will result in).

And those folks in New Zealand "handled" having no power for 6 weeks.

And reason they handled it, was because they had A PROPER STATE OF MIND THAT DID NOT FOSTER PANIC.

As for Cap Gemini, they're just another consulting firm who may or may not be accurately reporting the data they've collected.

You, like any of us, fully know that statistics lie and everyone being paid to offer their opinion has an angle or agenda.

Yes Ken... Y2K, LIKE ANY OTHER POTENTIAL DISASTER, requires a sound mental state that AVOIDS PANIC and properly prepares for reasonable expectations of outages.

IN THAT WAY, Y2K "IS" MENTAL.
