What you read is obviously the public story. The real story is probably very different. If the equipment provider takes the rap like Cisco did and Lucent will here but the truth is known internally then business as usual. However if the Service Provider announces that they screwed up you run the risk of losing customers. The SP and the equipment supplier take a hit. The public announcement is for media consumption.
