hi JB2, I never paper traded once but jumped right in and lost my ass. ;-) Started out playing options and learned pretty quick that there were some smart people at that table and the deck was stacked. But it proved useful toward developing the emotional control that is so necessary in this game. That's why I'm kind of down on paper trading: you don't "feel" a thing while doing it. I recommend that beginning traders buy 100 shares of a $20-$30 stock and learn that way. At worst they're out a couple thousand bucks and as everyone has noted, that's the cost of a one semester course at the local college.
