When our 3 year old cray Y-MP was no longer useful and we decided to get rid of it, there was an embarrassing period when it appeared we would have to pay to have it hauled away. Those who had recently justified its $12,000,000 purchase price weren't feeling too good about their decision. Luckily, we found a scrap dealer whose business involved extracting the gold from electronic components who paid us "something" (the exact amount is a closely guarded secret) for the used cray (which did use a lot of gold for conductors).

You were right about Cray's future, Cray became a joke, at least for us.
