Yes, you are correct-they are very real possibilities, but they would be far less likely by a huge magnitude in ordinary, non-y2k times.
The most reasonable explanation for your attempting to convince everyone that 'Y2K IS TOTALLY MENTAL' is your self-centered interests by which you believe you can convince enough people reading that to reduce the people shutting down the banks via withdrawels, emptying the food shelves before you get there, and otherwise clogging any and all product distribtuiion lines (you know enough about JIT to be very panicky now, of course!) before you get yours!
