Actually, the original crop circles were done by just 2 people with a plank, although subsequent efforts have become more baroque. A wonderful account of this hoax can be found in Jim Schnabel's book, "Round In Circles: Poltergeists, Pranksters and the Secret History of the Cropwatchers." The most fascinating, but disturbing part of the whole crop circles story was that since the hoax was revealed, in irrefutable detail, the true believers have only became more fervent than ever! This is in fact a commonly noted phenomenon with debunked supernatural beliefs, and apparently applies to stock scams as well....
I suspect I have learned all I need to from this thread, and should be moseying along now. I hope you'll keep asking the tough, skeptical questions!
