In the 90s at least, the market always always always rallied violently after a 10% decline. A wiseman said this on monday: -g-

Hi John, xxxxxxxxxxxxxx To me the markets look ripe for a major fall. But not before a violent 3 day rally following a 10% correction. The violent rally will retrace about 60% of the 10% correction. That will be the time to short the heck out of the market.
