RE: Classification of Problem Posters . . . . . . Ice, a couple of points: 1) I don't know what the SI guidelines are; 2) generally, I believe the fewer rules the better. . . . . . . The type of post I had in mind for the Type I was the "you're an idiot" type of post, but I have seen posts of this nature that probably exceed SI guidelines in that they are derogatory in nature, contain profanity and contain no information relevant to the thread they were posted on. I would still classify these as Type I because our response should be the same, to pointedly ignore the poster. Now, if just ignoring the poster doesn't work then their are two choices to make. We reclassify the poster as Type III and call in the webmaster or we could start an e-mail campaign to the poster. . . . . . . . . . There are serious problems with both of these "solutions". First, I'm very reluctant to ask for help and I wouldn't want to overreact so I would want to save the Type III classifications for the really serious transgressions that cannot be handled by the people on our thread, such as the guy that posted the picture that inspired this thread. And the e-mail address may not be any good. . . . . . . . . . . . Another solution that I propossed a year ago was to include a search engine at the beginning of the thread that would search the "To" and "From" on the messages and thus allow us the ability to "filter out" the posts from individuals we didn't want to waste our time hitting next. But, truth is, this "solution" may end up being worse than the problem. . . . . . Well, I think I'm starting to ramble on. Please forgive the awkward formatting. I'm using a very old computer with a Lynx browser and it will NOT allow me to use blank lines or more than 1 space. Regards, Stan
