"professional shorts" are different from the hypothesized paid bashers.

If a professional short paid someone to go bash a thread, that someone would be a paid basher.

An analogy: The neighborhood bully who beats people up because that is what he does all the time, vs the bully paying someone else to beat up a particular person.

Nothing intrinsic wrong with shorts though. Just like longs, there are good guys and bad guys.
