Ok...I'm running NT in the offices here, but I have a few Windows 95, and Windows 98 boxes nearby. I checked the Windows 98 one and yes, the \APPLOG directory is there (with the log files mentioned).

The Windows 95 machine doesn't have it. From the history of the discussion, I assume this has something to do with DEFRAG and how you have the option of running it so it starts your applications faster (IOW checking the logs of recently run apps and placing them at the beginning of the drive). Windows 95 doesn't have that option with defrag, so that would explain why the directory isn't there.

In the end, there might not be anything to be paranoid about...at least in this case. <g>
