Terry has never depicted himself as conservative. He is libertarian, a wholly different political stance that does not by any means preclude compassion and generosity; it simply objects strongly to being forced to "compassion" by means of state coercion. Notably, that coerced "compassion" can all too often mean that we as individuals find that the money we have earned and that has been taken from us is being used to fund "compassions" that we personally find abhorrent.
