Motherboard/chipset shortage is largely a fiasco that is a result of delayed CuMine launch and bugs in Whitney. May be you want to explain the thread the plummeting PIII ASPs - well below the levels forecasted by Intel and well below the levels they were announced on Aug 2nd (less than 2 weeks back). The PIII demand is so high that Intel is having to resort to yet another unscheduled price cut on Aug 22.
