Eric, I'll have to agree with you on this one. The system is overloaded as it is. General Powell will no doubt diagram an open access configuration on his lunch break from his agricultural career. But, as Frank C. can verify, Medin's point that the technology is not ready for prime time, shall we say, is not a smokescreen. I heard what Powell said, and it is hubris. I initially thought that open access was feasible, because I use AOL thru the "Bring Your Own Access" plan. If I can do it with my dialup, then I can do it with broadband. As Frank pointed out, AOL just doesn't want destination, they want network connectivity.
So keep your perspective. It make a lot of sense.
