"DUCTTAPE.com for ad, free surf for members, good joke", sooner or later, business which places ad in the free sites will find out their $ does not return what they are expected.
Come to think of some facts, people who use free dial-up tries to save $150 - $250 a year from their ISP, they would be the last e-commerce buyer, they just want to get the free access, there is no way an ad banner can suck their precious money for a purchase, if the free-access surfer does buy something from the site banner, they have to "pay", the possibility of paying high is very likely, if that happens, where is the saving?
So my conclusion is (1) how many ad banners on those free sites are 'renewed' contracts? (2) new ad banner would like to view some number before placing their money on the free sites, what number can they possible see?
AOL, in another world, renewed with their e-commerce partnership with higher $, I don't think any business would renew an ad with higher $ if the previous ad contract did not live up to their standards.
Free sites are for lower-end web users, they don't mind being harrassed by the 'ducttape ad banner', they don't mind 'obeying' the free-ISP's instructions, they don't mind a lots of things because they just want to save a few dollars a year, I wonder when will they buy a new PC?
I just renewed my ISP for next year, why? I can't be bothered by a mere $200/year and giving up my freedom of not seeing or being pushed by an ad banner, I can't let someone to tell me how long I must be connected to their site, I can't tolerate of getting busy signal when I mostly need to be online, most importantly, I can't risk of having my line busy or cut-off when I am doing a trade!
What is $150 - $250 a year meant to me? 1/8 or 1/16 of a good trade or a bad trade...
I wonder how many people of this chat room using free dial-up? are they really like it? Hmmmm, I wonder... |
