There are lots of good reasons why new traders, like wallstreeter, should avoid chat rooms like the plague. Developing your own sense of confidence is so important for survival and chat rooms always generate the illusion that someone else is a lot smarter than you.

One great way to see what's hot and what's hot is to check the %gainer, %loser a few times per day. That lets you know where the action is. Even a filtered pick area, like Briefing, can give you ideas without feeling like you're chasing the crowd around.
