Receives Registration With U.S. Securities And Exchange Commission
Robert Rieveley, President of Biotech Holdings Ltd., is pleased to announce that the Company's 20F Registration Statement, filed January 24, 1997 with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Washington, DC, became effective as of March 25, 1997.
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 (g) of the U.S. Securities Exchange Act of 1934, Biotech Holdings is now a ``Reporting Company'' in the United States under Section 12(g) of the Exchange Act, with its common shares registered thereunder. As a Reporting Company, Biotech is in a position to apply for listing on a U.S. stock exchange.
Biotech manufactures and markets a new tablet-form prescription drug for Type II Diabetes, ``DIAB II''. DIAB II represents a class of insulin-sensitizing drugs that provides a new way of treating more than 200 million Type II Diabetes patients worldwide.
Biotech is currently selling DIAB II in China and is examining a number of opportunities for licensing the drug to senior pharmaceutical companies for markets in North America and Europe.
