Booz, Allen and Hamilton to install Open Text's Livelink
Intranet to enhance firm's Knowledge-on-Line, KOL,
system

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 31, 1997--Consulting giant Booz, Allen and Hamilton
has purchased Open Text Corporation's (OTEXF:Nasdaq) market leading-(a) Livelink Intranet
suite of web-based document management, workflow and collaboration applications for the firm's
Knowledge-on-Line (KOL) intranet. KOL is Booz, Allen's massive knowledge repository, holding
documents and objects containing best practices, business intelligence, analyses, competitive data
and other information critical to the firm's 7,000 globally-dispersed consultants.

"When we began KOL, there was no scaleable, secure Web-based architecture, so we installed a
client/server environment but with the advent of the intranet, a better way to collect and share
information became available, using Netscape's Enterprise Server, News Server and Navigator
products," says Ed Vaccaro, CIO, Booz, Allen. "With Livelink Intranet, we're taking the next step,
which is to deploy collaborative tools to make better use of the wealth of information, in many forms,
that enters and flows across KOL."

"The cost of installing and maintaining client/server application software on thousands of KOL
desktops worldwide would be massive, making the addition of Livelink's Web-enabled document
management, workflow management, search and project collaboration tools an economic and
operational imperative," said Vaccaro. "Its total, out-of-the box integration of unique project
collaboration tools provide a project-based approach to locating, using and sharing information. And
Livelink's cross-platform, object-oriented architecture enables it to be easily extended and
customized as new business requirements emerge.

KOL has been designed to maximize the value of Booz, Allen's information resources. As Booz,
Allen consultants accumulate "knowledge" in document form - analyses, statistics, reports - that
information is submitted to the firm's team of "knowledge managers" for inclusion in KOL. The
knowledge masters act as librarians, organizing KOL information and ensuring that all online material
has been prepared in accordance with strict quality guidelines. Their efforts, combined with the KOL
system itself, ensure that valuable information can be located and re-used on demand, as well as
providing quick identification of specific expertise held by consultants worldwide.

"With Livelink Intranet, we can take the resources and expertise that KOL stores and apply them to
projects whose complexity mandates using sophisticated management and collaboration tools,
specifically the document management and workflow management engines of Livelink," says
Vaccaro.

"We are pleased that a leading innovator in deploying intranet solutions has chosen Livelink, and we
believe that this agreement builds a sold foundation for Booz, Allen as a key Open Text partner,"
said Tom Jenkins, President and CEO of Open Text Corp.
