Rothbard did more to advance the libertarian cause than anyone else. He had disagreements but I don't think he was threatened by Rand's philosophy. I don't think anything could have threatened Rothbard.

No doubt that Rand made important contributions. She came along when socialism was on the march and filled the void that existed on the right at that time. I enjoyed Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead, but lets face it, the writing is somewhat pedestrian.

The comparisons of Marxian man and Randian man are valid. Both are atheist and believe in a superhero-type of champion for working people, only one worships the individual and the other worships the collective.

I'm not as enamored as I used to be but I still like the old broad. The picture of her that sticks in the mind the most is the one where she is wearing a Napoleon hat, posing with her customary cigarette holder and her eyes are wide as saucers. Obviously speeding her brains out. She must have been a trip to talk with.
