I don't know of any company that competes with neog on a full product line basis. However, there are companies that have products that compete with neog on an individual product basis. I don't believe IDXX has many, if any competing products. A couple I know about are Vicam and Romer Labs, they are both private. Neog has all but received the final judgement in a libel case against Vicam. I know neog has patents, but I don't know how many. Although I believe that biotech material used for making their tests is protected by other means. Of course I think food testing is significant part of food safety in the future, along with sanitation testing and animal safety products. On irradiation, I think the consensus is that testing goes right along with irradiation, if it really ever becomes completely acceptable. Although I personally wouldn't like to eat sterilized manure with my meat. exchange2000.com RE/a hold/ The USDA uses neog's tests in their inspections; which I think bodes ver well for neog; if you were a meat packer wouldn't you want to use the same tests that the inspectors use? Neog's Bot Tox B vaccine is the only one in the world, but unfortunately for this quarter they are running out of supply as they wait for FDA approval to sell the Bot Tox B vaccine that is being produced out of the Tampa facility -- so there is penned up demand for this product for next quarter; FDA approval is set for October 2nd. Bot Tox B is very profitable! I could go on....
