I doubt that the FTC would aprove a CSCO buyout of ASDN/CSCC. However, if the combined Ascend-Cascade were to buy or merge with
FORE, it would become the strongest competitor to CSCO. Such a deal would make them no. 1 in Frame Relay, ATM, and remote access. It would also allow CSCC and ASND to enter the LAN switching market.
