Hi, Y2Ker's. I was at a friend's house yesterday evening. He is an IT manager at my local utility company. He has been there all his working life, which is about 15 years. I asked him what he thought about potential black outs. He said there wouldn't be any major ones, but there could be some small disruptions.
Also, this company is outsourcing all it's IT people starting Jan 1st 2000! So, he will be doing the same job, but working for a different company. Maybe, they are trying to prevent losses from lawsuits?

Switching topics:
I bought a generator yesterday. It was easy to get working, but it sure makes a lot of noise. As has been pointed out to me, this could be a magnet for people if there are serious power outages next year. What is a good way to muffle this noise? Also, what is the best way to store gas safely?
I'm now seriously considering installing solar panels. I can easily sell my wife on that as it will reduce our electricity bills immediately. Where's a good web site to get info? Any ball park figures on cost? Maybe I can get one of those deals where there are no payments until 1/1/2000? :-)
Y'all have a nice day.

P.S. I got my SAM's card yesterday, now I can get some serious supplies.
