Ken, I encourage you to read it. You would need to "suspend disbelief" throughout in order to "get" his point of view, but I think it will be worth the effort. Regardless of whether you or anyone else agrees with the U.S. government position on this thing or respects their competence, they are still the most powerful player in it (at least until the mob takes over <g>) and it's important to understand where they're coming from.
DO YOU NOT COMPREHEND THE FACT THAT THE GOVT CARES NOT ABOUT THE MASSES? DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT THE PRIMARY FUNCTION OF GOVT IS TO GOVERN, NOT TO TELL THE TRUTH UNLESS IT SUITS THEIR PURPOSES? THAT THEIR PRIMARY GOAL IS THE PERPETUATION OF THE INSTITUTION AND MAINTENANCE AT ANY COST, OF CIVIL ORDER??
One thing that troubles me is the suggestion of malicious intent on the part of government entities that are simply doing their jobs. Government organizations, as a rule, are very careful to operate within their authorized roles and missions [the diversions of politicians notwithstanding]. Doing so is no more wrong than a hawk swooping down and taking a bunny. He's just being a hawk. What is important, imo, is to read what the government says in the context of its role so as to better understand it.
The role of the Federal government in this is national security and public health and safety. It's not their job to focus on you or me as individuals. Sometimes the role of the government is is not completely consistent with the best interests of each individual. For example, if I ended up on an airplane with someone with a dangerous virus, a Public Health Officer would put me and the others in quarantine in the interests of public health, whereas my brother, the doctor, would say that my best interest would be to get as far away from those sick people as possible. The government has its job. I think this article describes what they see as their job very well. Our job is to interpret what they tell us in the context of their role and then decide what action is appropriate. Refusing to read what they say with an open mind reduces understanding and thus is not in the individual's best interests.
