There's only 6" of usable space (top-bottom) on my monitor, within the Netscape window. That d*mn toolbar, with stuff I don't need or am interested in .... takes up 3" of that usable space!

You probably know this, but you can turn off the toolbars you don't use in Netscape 4.x. Under the menu item "View", select "Show". You probably have all the items checked, including "Personal toolbar". Select that item (or anything else) and it will be toggled off.

You can also temporarily close a toolbar by selecting and pressing the little arrow on the far left of the toolbar.

One other suggestion. If you're still seeing both icons and text in your toolbar (the thing with the left, right arrows, and the "home" icon), then you can get more space on your window by choosing (from the menu) "Edit" and then "Preferences". Highlight the "Appearance item" in the dialog that is now open. Under the "Show toolbars as" item, select 'Pictures Only'.

It's possible to save even more space with IE, but either browser can be configured to make better use of limited screen space.
