This is from Thursday. "The price drops on the Board of Trade were in reaction to a surprising crop production report from the U.S. Agriculture Department...far above the average trade guess."

Considering this followed the Fed's "Beige Book," and preceded the Commerce Dept's PPI, I suspect this is just another attempt to save paper at the expense of supplies of real things.

Pursuing an inflationary path--and then claiming there is none--seems to be the in thing now (Greenspan doesn't entirely support this policy, hence the resignation rumors).
