Hi truedog, I hope you didn't take any insults from me. If so, I did it inadvertently. I will apologize if you point out the place to me where I did you wrong. I like this: "It was said that the Americans and the British are the only two people separated by a common language..." However I cannot judge myself how much it is true. I think the 'ghoti' example brought in by C.H. later was first (?) used by Churchill when he planned to reform English. Luckily he didn't succeed in that plan ... Regards MNI.
