NDS for NT 2 (the current version) is actually maintaining a replica on the NT server within the NDS structure. This process of maintaining a replica on the NT server cannot be done without NT services running on the NT server.

The version that you are referring to was NDSforNT v1 which simply used the NT server for the redirection of NT Domain information to and from the NDS structure store on a NetWare server (it basically acted as a liaison machine between Domains and NDS).

It is not easy to find the fact that you are referring to on Novell's web site, but on the following page it talks about v2.01 improving the performance of the replica on NT

"...improved performance for the NDS replica running on the NT Server."

So, your statement is not correct. As for the NDS/AOL deal, again, we will see just how important the news is when the Instant Messaging battle ends and when MSFT's Active Directory rears its ugly head - some day.
