MCI WorldCom said today that it has restored its high-speed data network after a planned 24-hour outage in which it sought to correct problems that have caused havoc for ten days. [...]

[Looks like they couldn't figure out what was going on so they powered everything down and back up hoping that this sort of problem doesn't happen again.]

Clinton, Mississippi-based MCI WorldCom's outage followed a similar problem at AT&T last year. AT&T and other companies such as Qwest
Communications International said last week that they gained customers as some disgruntled MCI WorldCom clients searched for new service
providers.
