INFOCAST CORPORATION NAMES JAMES LEECH CEO
Company Cites New CEO?s Experience Building Public Companies
TORONTO August 16, 1999 ? INFOCAST CORPORATION (?InfoCast?) (NASDAQ BB symbol: ?IFCC?), today announced the appointment of James W. Leech as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Leech also becomes a Director of the company. Mr. James Hines, who is President and a Director, has been appointed Executive Vice-President and Director.
Co-Chairmen, Thomas Griffis and Darcy Galvon, described Mr. Leech as an experienced, top-ranked senior executive with a strong track record of building publicly owned companies in the entrepreneurial technology field and other sectors. ?We are very pleased that Mr. Leech has elected to join InfoCast at this stage of our exciting growth, and we look forward to major contributions from him in taking the company to a higher level as the Application Service Provider (ASP) sector expands over the coming years.?

InfoCast is a rapidly growing ?first mover? company in ASP outsourcing. The company has strategic marketing relationships with Sun Microsystems Inc. and AT&T Canada and important positions in the vertical call center, distance learning and teleworking outsourced network computing markets. Moving into the position of Executive Vice-President of InfoCast, Mr. Hines will continue to direct the company's expansion in the important call center and distance learning market sectors and will implement overall corporate strategy and market positions in collaboration with Mr. Leech.
Mr. Leech will lead the way in directing the company?s implementation of its North American expansion strategy following the initial purchase of a Sun Enterprise 10000 server or iHub, from Sun Microsystems, Inc. The company expects to set up and operate up to 12 such iHubs over the next 18 months.
Prior to accepting his new position with InfoCast, effective early September 1999, Mr. Leech most recently served as Vice-Chairman of a data security and networking firm, Ontario-based Kasten Chase Applied Research Ltd. He became Vice-Chairman there after staging a successful corporate turnaround and merging a high technology communication firm, Disys Corporation, into Kasten Chase in 1996. Mr. Leech led a strategic turnaround effort that included raising new equity capital, moving the company from an operating loss to achieving a profit, and engineering acquisitions and internal growth to reposition the company into the wireless communication business. Earlier in his career, Mr. Leech served as President of Unicorp Canada, a financial services firm, building its assets from $50 million to $6 billion in five years. Subsequently, as President and CEO of Union Energy, Inc., he directed a growth strategy that took assets from $1.6 billion to $2.7 billion and culminated in a merger of the company into Westcoast Energy Inc., in a $750 million transaction.
