It doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility that to those groups who specialize in shorting, the prospects of a big win on SYCR probably looked very promising. You had a small, non reporting company with a market cap that went from approximately $7.5M to $450M in a matter of 2 months. I'm sure, for those people who specialize in this sort of thing, that this probably sent a few bells off. The Dorfman article and the competition's (Connectix, Quarterdack) claims that it didn't work or was bogus probably helped as well. In retrospect, I guess they were mightly rewarded.
