Chinacat, let me also jump in to thank you for your always valuable posts: your patience with the technically challenged [me] is particularly appreciated. In that regard, would you be kind enough to comment/clarify this topic: is it 'accurate' to think of an RTOS as an interface between the analog and digital 'worlds'?
Put another way, are embedded systems typically employed in, e.g.,fuel injection systems constantly monitoring gas/oxygen ratios, heat, etc., then reporting the data to a digital system which then processes according to algorithms and makes necessary corrective 'decisions'?
Or is this only one use of an RTOS, and the rest of the time embedded systems function in a purely digital environment? Which is the predominant use?
Hope these questions are not wildly stupid! Thank you again, Mike Doyle
