Here is a better example:

The system in the United States still rewards the exceptional individual (unless the person becomes too successful, whereupon the DOJ starts an investigation... ha-ha). Non-exceptional individuals are rewarded less, the truly unexceptional are tolerated.

You see, it is like the National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner, it can only be sung correctly by a group -- or by ONE exceptional individual.
