No, that is what states are for. If one state allowed abortion, yet another did not, then people within states would have a choice as to where they wanted to live and which philosophical premise (pro-life/pro-choice) to live with. Under the federal system the states are basically robbed of this power and thus the resulting turmoil.

The federal government has becoming a lumbering juggernaut that is trampling the real rights of individuals. In the eyes of many federal politicians needs surpass rights,: new rights are created out of thin air (the "right" to health care, the "right" to an education, the "right" to food) when no such "rights" exist. This is the legacy of that damnable Hamilton aided and abetted by his crony in crime: FDR.
