Thanks, Joan. I'm aware of the clubhouse. I found this thread from posts about the clubhouse on the SI beta thread. From your referenced post on which/that: some experts argue that too much of a fuss is made over the distinction between "which" and "that." They have a point. I sometimes think that I'm too sensitive to the casual usage of which/that. When I review work at the office, I'm constantly making corrections, usually substituting "that" for an incorrectly used "which." Since I can almost always tell from the context which word is intended, perhaps it doesn't matter which word is used. Still, it bugs me. I asked a lawyer friend about the rampant misuse of "which" in the Code of Federal Regulations. One would think that precision would be important to lawyers. He told me that his legal education was silent on which/that and he wasn't a bit sympathetic to my concern. My other current personal favorite is using "myself" instead of "me." I flinched the other day when I heard Mike Wallace use "myself" as the object of a preposition during an interview by Tim Russert. Ouch! Karen
