By the way, the latest Investor's Digest growth portfolio still has Corel as a "buy", reiterated from the analyst's initial buy recommendation in October. He says only take a small position and "monitor", but buy is his recommendation even as he takes profits in other growth stocks.

In other news,

There is an immensely uninformed letter to the editor of the Report on Business today, citing A/R issues (the latest numbers aren't mentioned) and the fact that cash has gone down to (according to him) $7 million from its earlier lofty levels (well they acquired Wordperfect, duh.)

He also comes up with the brilliant opinion that there isn't much money in the retail suite market, and that the real money is in the corporate market. In other words, this writer has figured out that MSFT is a really big and important company. And for some reason the newspaper feels compelled to print this, complete with the opinion that "shareholders had better hope that Cowpland is keeping his eye on the ball".

The letter is three months out of date in its 'worries' about Corel but as one of only two letters printed today will no doubt be taken as gospel by many thousands of readers. I can't believe the Globe and Mail would print such crap. I hope somebody writes in to straighten the guy out.
