Hi David: Unfortunately, I think 19 cents is simply not possible....We are really stuck between 17 and 18 cents...

.17....even with expansion of the GM (over last quarter)...would probably keep the stock in a tight trading range around 40 for most the quarter (3/4 pts. either way)..

.18 and GM expansion could jump the stock into a mid-40's range (+/- 3/4 pts) this quarter..IMO

I am assuming a fairly bullish forward, and no major Y2K issues...

It would be nice if 2000 starts arriving on the radar screen (analyst questions)..that could help too....

Roger McNamee (Integral Capital Partners) is the tube now, saying that HP numbers bode well for Dell...that makes me think HE thinks .18 is acheivable..

Let's hope for .18 and gross margin expansion...I think it is going to be close (ie. around .175....sales (units) were obviously good......revenue should be 6B..but how much did Dell have to discount this quarter (that is the question)...

Folks may forget...but last August, Dell did not rally much into earnings, but then surged after (good) earnings......of course, the stock hit the wall (along with all others late August/September) last year....point being, there is precedent for Dell rallying after earnings...albeit rare...

Given the lack of (real) earnings run this quarter, I think we could see a nice pop with .18 and GM expansion..
