The Cure did Hendrix' "Foxy Lady" as an early single. During the 'sophomore' days of The Cure, they opened for Siouxsie and The Banshees (and Billy Idol, Wire, and a few others). For a few of those tours, Siouxsie's guitarist took a hike. So Robert Smith, the lead singer and (at the time, primary) guitarist for The Cure would play both shows and record for Siouxsie, indeed playing on their cover of "Dear Prudence". This 'double work' (and associated double dose of drugs and alcohol requisite of any self-respecting "80s Doom Rock Band" led to a pretty severe burnout, and the exceedingly depressing mood (moreso than The Cure's "regularly scheduled" depressing mood) of The Cure's turning point album, "Pornography".
