Re: Hard Numbers

Second quarter report out. No time to pick it clean, but here are some highlights:

1. Revenues for monitoring products $2.699 million. Sequential quarterly growth 4.6% (quarter-to-quarter stabilization of monitoring product revenue a good trend). No indication of how many VCC's were sold (I could suffer the fluff pieces more quietly if management also provided real data).

2. My copy of the 10-Q does not have the customer list. If Maintech management has decided no longer to include this in their SEC filings, it speaks volumes about their willingness to provide useful data to its shareholders.

3. First half 1999 loss is $0.12/share (diluted) (there are tons of dilutions, accounting changes, and "non-cash" items, so you can basically pick and choose which number you want). Now go back to that "research report:"

For 1999, the company is expecting .17 per share in earnings.

Credibility check: Does the company believe it can make $0.29/share over the next two quarters? That's nearly six million of net profit!

4. 881,000 shares of common were placed at 1.125 during the quarter, and the placement agent got warrants representing an additional dilution of 88,100 shares. Hard for any stock's price to "run nicely" when management is pegging its value within 8% of the 52-week low.
